I bought my two dachshunds 4 years ago and they are called Jack and Jill. Jill who is the the bees knees is only 17 pounds and Jack comes in at nineteen pounds. Someone elses bad luck was my luck as the previous owners dies 3 years ago about a year apart. I had never plotted to breed these wonderful wieners. .What is surprising is that I have had 5 different litters.I cant imagine a more friendly breed of dog after owning them. I was truly sad being away when Jill had her 1st litter. . I didn't understand she was so near to having the pups because when I got her she was already pregnant. When I arrived home I found one pup on my couch. We found more pups behind the toilet, one was still in the sack and not breathing.
Jill was stirring with the condition of her dachshund puppies and was really disturbed . We put her down on the ground and place the pup next to her so it could try and suckl. . After an hour or so she took to the puppy and let it lay next to her, stripped it and let it bunged . We thought we only had the two pups after looking around and finding no more.
2 hours later it was bed time and we trundled upstairs. The new baby dachsund and her mother Jill were in our room for the night in order that nothing unusual happened between them in the middle of the night. At last when they were both glad my husband turned off the light so the four of us could turn in for the night. As he was hitting the switch he listened a pup wailing .
Truly cautiously he reached for the door as he didnt want to scare the living daylights out of the puppies. Much to his surprise he came across another newborn puppy lying in the bed. She was cleaning it. I forgot to mention Jade is a 90 pound pit bull so you can imagine my hubbys surprised when he saw little and large .
Jade was never fortunate enough to have a dachshund . What is really odd is that she does have milk when Jill has baby doxies. Jill is only too glad to allow Jade feed her new litter when they come into the world. They are always with her without waver. Jill knows only too well that the pups couldnt be looked after better by anybody else so herself and Jade have come to an accord. They sleep in one big pile Skippy,Jill,Jade and the babies. .
I have never seen so many dog sitters for a miniature dachshund. They leap all over Jade . Jade waggles her big old tail and snuggles them with her mouth, they adores the attention. It's funny seeing her leap at them and they chute right back .She has never hurt one even by mistake big as she is .
